California Forest Project

CALIFORNIA FOREST PROJECT
On View: May 30 - August 22, 2024
Closing Event: August 22 at 6:30pm

The David Brower Center is pleased to welcome the California Forest Project by local photographer Stefan Thuilot to the Hazel Wolf Gallery. This immersive exhibition celebrates the abundant biodiversity of our state’s forest ecosystems. From towering redwoods to rolling hills with Oak and Madrone trees, this collection showcases the range of California's wooded landscapes at a massive scale. Hundreds of individual photos make up these high-resolution composites, which are printed at up to 13 feet tall!

California is renowned as an unrivaled biodiversity hotspot in the United States, with numerous forests and trees that stand out globally for their size, age, height, and variety. The California Forest Project's primary aim is to provide comprehensive coverage of the diverse range of forests.

Join our friends at Bay Nature Magazine on August 22 from 6:30 - 8:30pm for a special event celebrating the exhibitions’ closing night. Photographer Stefan Thuilot will be joined in conversation by Obi Kaufmann, Joe McBride, and Adina Merenlender on the importance of California's forests and the work of naturalists and photographers to highlight these critical ecosystems. Get your tickets here (free for Bay Nature members, $5 for general public).
