FYP (For Your Planet)
Opening Reception: Friday 2/27, 6:30-8:30pm
The David Brower Center is pleased to present the 2026 Art/Act: Youth exhibition, FYP (For Your Planet), featuring artwork by 83 students from Berkeley High School, Richmond High School, and Skyline High School expressing their visions for ideal climate futures.
Through the Art/Act: Youth exhibition series, the Brower Center aims to empower and amplify young Bay Area artists. Since 2017, over 1,000 local students have engaged with environmental issues through an interdisciplinary, research-based creative process as participants in this program.
This year, we invited students to reflect on the importance of cultivating grounded optimism in the face of the climate crisis. Every day, we are all besieged with a stream of dire news, conditioning us to assume worst-case scenarios and resign ourselves to their inevitability. The rise of the term “doom-scrolling” reflects how normalized this hopelessness has become. As a way to break out of this cycle, we asked students to reflect on climate success stories that inspire them. We invited students to imagine their best-case scenarios for the future, drawing on demonstrated wins from environmental changemakers as models for what is possible. Their sincerity and enthusiasm for their planet shines through in the art of this exhibition. We hope that this exhibition will inspire viewers to recognize our individual and collective power to impact the future of our planet through our actions every day.
Exhibition Dates: February 25 - May 15, 2026
